Hello friends!
I hope you had a great time following along with the Hollywood Trousers sew-along! I'd absolutely love to see your creations once you're done. Don't forget, the sew-along will always be there for you whenever you want to revisit it—especially if you missed out this time around.
Yesterday, I went on a little hunt for fabric to make my dream pair of creamy-white wool Hollywood Trousers. Unfortunately, all I could find were poly-wool blends, so I decided to put the project on hold for now. (No worries though—I have plenty of other pairs of Hollywood Trousers to keep me stylish in the meantime!)
Now that the sew-along has wrapped up, I thought I’d share two super easy and quick Neighborhood raglan tops I recently made for myself. For the first one, I used a lightweight striped jersey fabric that S and I picked up during a trip to Mood New York last summer. We both fell in love with the fabric, so we got a few yards of it.
To create this top, I paired the View A sleeves with the View B body. I also skipped the hem bands, adding about 3 or 4 extra inches to the body length to compensate. Since I wanted a slightly oversized, slouchy fit, I sewed a medium instead of my usual small. Oh, and I also narrowed the neckband a bit. I’m really loving the extra-long sleeves!
As a fun touch, I hemmed this one in red thread, inspired by Shelley’s faux flatlock tutorial. While I couldn’t loosen the stitches enough to make them as visible as I’d hoped, I still adore the effect and plan to experiment with it more in the future.

The second Neighborhood top I wanted to show you is made from a beautiful linen sweater knit. If you've ever wondered what to do with sweater knits, here’s your answer! This particular linen knit has a fine gauge and is tightly woven, making it quite stable. (S recently spotted another sweater knit in my stash—a larger-gauge, more drapey version—and we’re thinking of turning it into a Neighborhood top with faux leather shoulders for her. I’ll post about that once I sew it. She has plenty of other projects lined up too, like faux leather leggings similar to mine, so who knows when I’ll get to it.)
For this version, I used the View A sleeves with the View B body, but I kept the hem bands intact, so there aren’t many changes from the original design.

Both of these tops come together incredibly fast, and the striped tee has quickly become my go-to outfit. But I have a sneaking suspicion S might try to “borrow†it as soon as I take it off…
