Soft Wave

Denim this season has taken on a softer edge, with tanned fabrics that are more elastic and less rigid. While G-Star’s new collection may not include Lycra, their tailored A-line skirts, jumpsuits, and deep V-neck dresses still managed to convey a feminine strength. In contrast, Stella McCartney’s designs—such as half pencil skirts, A-line silhouettes, and suspenders dresses—echoed the image of 1940s and 1950s working women. To emphasize the feminine side of denim, many designers added delicate details. For example, D&G featured ruffled tube tops paired with cotton-square denim skirts and western boots, giving off a playful and cute vibe. Meanwhile, Dolce & Gabbana used black lace on denim fabric, blending mature elegance with subtle sensuality.

Neutral Trend

This season’s neutral trend is all about the "boyfriend wave"—wearing oversized denim pieces from a man's wardrobe. Loose-fitting denim shirts paired with low-rise jeans captured the effortless style of Parisian women. On the D&G runway, denim shirts were styled with denim hot pants and tube top skirts, making it feel like stealing directly from a boyfriend’s closet. Ralph Lauren took the boyfriend look to the next level with wide-fit denim jackets worn over fitted shirts and blazers, creating a powerful yet feminine silhouette. When paired with high heels, these looks avoided being too masculine, proving that denim can be both strong and stylish.

Hippie Wave

Since the 1960s, denim has been closely linked to the hippie movement, often seen in rugged, worn-out jeans. This season’s hippie trend was more refined, focusing on thin, washed denim with a country-inspired feel. Anna Sui stood out with her unique take—while not using denim as the main fabric, she incorporated unwashed blue-gray denim paired with printed silk blouses and beaded skirts, adding a touch of femininity. Paul & Joe also embraced the hippie spirit with oversized, light denim shirts and flouncy skirts, creating a whimsical, literary vibe that felt both nostalgic and modern.

Rock and Roll

The connection between jeans and rock music dates back to Elvis, the king of rock and roll. Over the years, no matter how rock evolved, jeans have always held a special place in its culture. Balmain’s collection was dominated by military-inspired uniforms, but its signature jeans still made an appearance. The coated and cropped hot pants added a tough, sexy edge. Jean Paul Gaultier kicked things up a notch with denim jackets, cowboy strap skirts, and bra straps integrated into the design.
